CDFI & Mission Lending Advisory
See the lending system clearly. Strengthen what happens next.
RealTree helps CDFIs and mission lenders clarify how borrower information, credit decisions, portfolio monitoring, technical assistance, data, and reporting move across the organization—then turns the gaps into practical operating requirements.

The problem is rarely contained in one spreadsheet or one department
The visible symptom may be a delayed report, an incomplete borrower file, an unreliable dashboard, or a system implementation that keeps stalling. The underlying issue often sits between teams: unclear definitions, inconsistent handoffs, missing ownership, or a workflow that no longer matches the program.
- Leadership lacks a shared view of pipeline, portfolio condition, exceptions, or program performance.
- Recurring reports require manual reconstruction from several systems and spreadsheets.
- Lending, program, servicing, and data teams use different definitions or tracking practices.
- Borrower intake and document collection create repeated follow-up and avoidable delays.
- Technical assistance is disconnected from readiness, underwriting, servicing, or outcome reporting.
- A CRM, LOS, reporting tool, or vendor project needs clear business requirements before configuration.
- A new product, fund, partner, or reporting obligation has increased operating complexity.
RealTree turns scattered symptoms into a shared diagnosis, clear requirements, and a realistic sequence of action—helping teams reduce avoidable delays, strengthen portfolio oversight, and improve how responsible capital reaches businesses and communities.
Follow the work from first contact to final report
Intake and documents → eligibility and review → credit decision → closing and funding → servicing and support → portfolio monitoring → reporting
Workflow and ownership
How work moves, where it waits, who owns each decision or handoff, and which exceptions sit outside the documented process.
Portfolio and pipeline visibility
What leadership and staff need to see, how status and risk are defined, and whether reports support timely action.
Critical data and reporting
Which fields matter, where they originate, how definitions differ, and what must be reconciled for reliable reporting.
Borrower documents and follow-up
How information is requested, received, reviewed, corrected, and transferred among lending and program teams.
Systems and vendor fit
How the current CRM, LOS, spreadsheets, dashboards, and vendor platforms support the operating workflow.
Implementation priorities
Which improvements belong to policy, ownership, training, data, configuration, or technology—and what should happen first.
Community Capital Portfolio & Reporting Readiness Sprint
A focused diagnostic · 30–45 days
For CDFIs, nonprofit loan funds, mission lenders, foundations, and community-capital teams managing loan, grant-loan, bridge, forgivable-loan, reimbursement, or partner-funded programs.
What the sprint delivers
- Current-state workflow map from intake through monitoring and reporting
- Portfolio tracking and critical-data-element inventory
- Dashboard and report requirements for leadership, board, funder, program, and partner views
- Borrower document, follow-up, and handoff recommendations
- System and vendor-fit observations grounded in the current workflow
- Prioritized findings and a 90-day implementation roadmap
01 · Understand the operating reality
Kickoff, focused document and data review, and working sessions with the people closest to the process.
02 · Map the work and information
Trace decisions, handoffs, critical fields, reports, exceptions, and recurring points of friction.
03 · Test the diagnosis
Review draft findings, distinguish symptoms from root causes, and confirm what is important and implementable.
04 · Set the sequence
Deliver the shared readiness packet, decision priorities, and a 90-day roadmap with clear owners and dependencies.
Start with the system you actually have
RealTree begins with the spreadsheets, reports, workarounds, judgment calls, and staff knowledge that keep the program moving.
Credit and mission stay connected
Sound credit practice and community purpose are operating requirements that must reinforce one another.
Separate the source of the problem
Distinguish people, process, data, and technology. Software cannot resolve unclear ownership or definitions by itself.
Leave usable outputs
Write maps, inventories, requirements, and priorities for the executives, staff, partners, vendors, and report builders who must act on them.
Sequence implementation
Distinguish immediate corrections, near-term operating improvements, and decisions requiring more time, budget, or governance.

This work fits leadership teams that need an independent operating view, clearer requirements, or a practical bridge among lending, program, portfolio, data, and technology teams.
- The institution retains its credit policy, approvals, and decision authority.
- The engagement is not legal, accounting, audit, or regulatory advice.
- A diagnostic does not guarantee resolution of every data or workflow issue.
- Related underwriting or portfolio-review support requires a separately scoped engagement with appropriate confidentiality, conflict, authority, and risk controls.
Clearer systems help teams preserve credit discipline while improving how responsible capital reaches businesses and communities.
Capital should create opportunity. Let’s build the systems that make that possible.
